Open your garage door from your Phone

With 2 failing garage door remotes, i have been looking for way to revive, extend their range.
Replacement remotes would be the obvious choice, but they are $150 ish each, and i would need two.

So... the internet came to the rescue once again, and i found.

Hacking/re-purposing a Samsung HM1100/HM1800 to trip the internal garage door switch.

I followed the instructions provided, and with in an hour from starting, i had it all together, and in place and functioning.
It is as simple as it looks...

Ebay for the HM1800
Jaycar for the transistor/resistor

total cost... less than $50...

now the wife is happy.

P.s. Its android only...
Apple don't allow the full functionality of the Bluetooth module on the iPhone...

I pulled up the other day, in a hail storm, pressing the horn button in the hilux opened both the gate and garage, but I think its broken now as it only worked the once and not again since (was actually surprised it worked at all)

Be careful with that kind of a remote or else you may suffer a denial of service attack.
