R50 Terrano Tow Hooks

Post by mudbugga »

Has anyone fitted hooks to a R50 before?
I have just picked up a R50 from work (trade-in) and will be needing to do something soon.
It has a towbar, but no front bars

My PR50 has two tow eyes on front. I assume by the installation they are factory fit.

They're probably just tie down points. Not suitable for recovery.
Need load rated hooks fitted.

Bumping an old thread, but has anyone fitted tow hooks to the front of an R50 successfully?

I had a look under mine at work today and there is not much of any substance in the front of these.
The only though I had would be to get a decent skid plate made up to fix between the factory tow points and the lower suspension cross member and mount some hooks onto that. With that set up you would be pulling on both the front chassis rails and the front subframe.

Yea I agree with that ^^^^^^ replace that support bracket between chassis and cross member with something beefier, even still, r50s being what they are you generally wouldn't be treating them with complete aggression so you shouldn't be putting them in a situation that requires a lot of nasty snatching
