New to the game

Hi all.

I am new to the game of 4wd in NZ and am slowly finding out that Auckland is not the place to be for good treks, I think.

Being from South Africa I am used to the week long 4wd treks with a bit of camping and sight seeing on the side.
So getting to my question. Is there any other more natural and long tracks on the north island?

Thanks heaps and if there is anyone keen and knows of such tracks hit me up I'm always keen for a group expedition.
