Does anyone know of some tech to run dual vitara t cases? Can't find anything on the web.
Looks to me like the undertaker was pretty much just a mod of a vit t case. It is no longer offered, and didn't have the ability to select.
Most dual t case tech is in a sammy, and has the front output shaft removed from the case and the section of the t case that houses this cut off, and blanked with a plate, retains the ability to select 1.0 or low range.
I have a spare manual box in the shed with a t case on it.
I know I could buy some t case gears and slap them in and get good reduction, but would like to explore this first.
The total transmission length would be longer, so rear driveshaft angle would be more severe. Also the rear shaft would need shortened, and front made longer.
I am running a prop spacer in the back and I could remove this, but the total t case length would mean still changing drive shaft length.
How nasty would it be cutting and welding on drive shafts, or ok?
Thinking one might weld the two ends together then add a sleeve over the weld and then weld this to the shaft too?
Interested in hearing your viewpoints.

Re: Dual vitara t case
Duals "work" in a sammy as they have the jack shaft length to work with (put second trans here) and still have to move orig transfer case back (so not really).... But they dont really "work" unless you have a LWB SJ, sammy etc. So my opinion - save the tears, go the gears

Re: Dual vitara t case
I remember reading somewhere about a vitara with dual cases . Stock transfer off gearbox and then a SJ transfer behind it .
from memory it was in a LWB , not sure if you would have enough rear drive shaft length to play with in a SWB .
you can definatly mount a SJ case to the Vitara Gearbox , with just an adaptor plate as the SJ input shaft fits the vitara Gearbox output shaft . This is well documented on the web , then just stick a 2nd SJ transfer behind it , also well documented.
have you run the numbers through a gear ratio calculator?
is there any benefit of adding a SJ trasnfer / 2 SJ transfers over the after market gear sets
I would say it would be easier and cheaper to just put an aftermarket gear set in the Vitara transfer .

Guy on pirate running 2x vit cases in an x-90.
He's got 4.24 gears in one of them.
This is pretty much the same as the under drive that trail tough used to make.
