New Zealand Army Tac Plate????

Post by Period Look »

Can someone explain to me where this NZ Army tac plate with the Kiwi originates from as I cant find any reference to it anywhere what so ever. I have found details for all sorts and all sorts of images but nothing re: this one, yet I see them on all the old Skippy's and V8 109s.

I have an ex army land rover 2a with a tac plate holder on the front and would like to put one in it but where to start?

Tac plates were actually used to identify Units when moving into assembly areas with multiple Units occupying it.

ie:

64: Armoured (QAMR)
41: Artillery
345: 10 Tpt coy
9: 1RNZIR

The Kiwi plate identifies the vehicle as being NZ Forces
etc...

Cheers

Try your local military vehicle collectors club or even the Army Museum at Waiouru.
