bosshogg gets a rear locker

Post by wopass »

more progress on big daddys truck, managed to get the rear diff out of it the other day and to my surprise i found that it had an LSD in it 8) unfortunatly a lock right cant be fitted to an LSD carrier so i had to find my self a very good condition 60 series open diff head to make the donor, which i found today :D and i managed to get me some parts as well :D sweeeeet

so dads diff (which is going into the front end of my cruiser for safe keeping

donor diff with spiders and side gears removed allready with locker ready to go in

one lock right side gear in

and then i got carried away and forgot to take photos so missed a couple of steps.... locker installed and oiled ready to go back into the 80 series

thats all for tonight, im tired

I've got two that have been sat on the shelf for about 9 months, no point installing them if the truck doesnt go...

Well done Ben,

DB is putting up a trip into 42 travers etc. coming?

By that question, you may guess that Siw and I are in! will talk to Richie too.

Will Paul be home and busting to try out stuff by then?

finished the rear locker install on the 80 series tonight, working as it should 8) just have to get it over to DB's test drain for a flex to see if we need to body lift it and by how much.

then moved on to my missile  have it half back together :D , managed to completely mash the brand new inner axle seal trying to get it in :x , seems that i diddnt clean up the bruised shoulder enough  so that put a stall on my progress for the night....probably a good thing as i have just come in and its nearly 1am

So lokka is comming out of the front of the 40 :?:

Steering to much hastle :?: And what are you going to do with the lokka now :?:

I`m going to take that move as a big indication that a LSD in the front makes life easier than the benefit of having a Lokka in :?

locker is out of the front of my cruiser for now, will see how it goes with just the rear locker and an LSD in the front, steering was an arse but acceptable as there is allways a trade off somewhere and all that traction in the front was cool BUT i think that locker in the rear and LSD in the front will be just fine (will find out on the next trip) and hopefully will not blow my new SPARE cv's

the locker is sitting in the diff head ( did you still need one?) will sell it after i make sure that having LSD in the front is good enough.

havent tryed the LSD yet so will let you know on that one bro. should be cool.

took BOSSHOGG over to DB's test place and stuck it in the drain to see how much body lift it needs(photos to come) and im gonna stick 40mm body lift in it and that should be sweet, also got to test the new rear locker as well, all i can say is that thing is awesum  , my dads gonna luuurrrvvv it ! the thing climbs like a goat ! go the auto !.... theres a point, need to put a trans cooler on it.....

Maybe... but was thinking of the LSD option as well. Just get it packed up so it works real hard

As a side Gary called and has the cash for those 2 60 Series diffs so will prob take them back soon. Pitty cause I could use one of the LSD diff heads.... on that note how much for the locker?
