Time has come for new tyres, been looking around for a while and quite keen to fit some Kumho KL71s for a good balance of onroad/offroad use. Im interested to know if anyone has fitted 265/75R16 KL71s (or other brands) to their D22 with stock suspension and how they worked out? I have read somewhere that the KL71s are smaller for their listed size than some brands but wanted to hear real world experience.
Cheers

Different size but on the 1st gen d22 I brought it with these on it in a 205 16 and the front chewed out real quick, the extra width may help? I also hear the new 71's are softer? Maxis bighorns may be a better option

They only chew out cause your top inner A arm bushes have gone soft with age. still pass a wof but under load the castor rocks around all over the place.
Had the same issue. changed out bushes and the front's have dead even wear from one side to the other. Also helps to run a higher pressure to make those centre lugs do all the road work too.
I got KL71's on safari rims on the R20. best tyre I've had on yet, softer compound makes for awesome braking with the firewood trailer on and ABS, can stop from a 90 just as fast as the missus ss commodore with it's big caliper's up front.
try doing that with a set of firestone MT's and you'll be facing back the way ya came in no time or jack knifed. especially on the median strips if your pulling up to turn right.

I cant argue with that ^^ , I did the front shocks while I owned it. They did work very well when I took the ute offroad and it stuck to the seal.

cheers for the posts guys, Im mainly trying to find out if the 265/75R16s will fit on the navara without a lift kit, if plastic needs to come off the guards and if the torsion bars need winding up etc.
Re: 265/75R16 on D22 Navara
got the Kl71s on mine, 265/75/16 on stock 03 d22 nav, mine rub on full lock and rears will rub at full flex.
No lift and no winding on the torsion bars.
Other than that just more road noise and run them at 40psi.
Done 20,000 ish kms at about 11mm of tread.
Good tyres for all round but I regret not getting them fitted to a spare set of rims.
Theres not good all rounders just a tyre that dosent excel at anything.
At's for road use i.e going to work etc and beach trips and muddies come on at the slightest hint of mud.
Helps to know if your nav came with a LSD rear.
easy.
