Another kzj78 ecu dead

Post by axel »

Looks like another prado ecu has given up. My truck wouldn't start this morning (it had been doing funny things for a while now). Turned over fine but just wouldnt fire. I have been suspicious it was ecu so I took it out for a look. There are a couple of caps that look like they have dribbled their brains out. Will send it up to Anything Electronic for a repair tomorrow. Couple of photos of it incase anyone's interested.

That doesn't sound like a very good run of luck! Have u got it all fixed now? Did u get a manual fuel pump put in or just replace with the same?

mechanic found another pump so got it on just waiting for ecu to get back...
would love to go manual pump but cost and effort would be too much

Well I hope mine hasnt damaged anything else! I would consider going manual pump, cost permitting.

Sent it off to Anything Electronic this morning. They said once they look at it they will be able to identify if its repairable and if it is may even be able to get it back to me in time for this weekends trip! Would be awesome if they can turn it around that quick!!

So I had the repair done. Put it back in the truck and it started first pop, mint!
However the courier company managed to smash the plastic housing for the little card mounted on the side of the ECU. Whats the chance someone out there has a spare for this particular little housing?

Photo of said housing http://s1124.photobucket.com/user/darle ... sort=3&o=0

Obviously I have asked for Anything electronic or the courier company to replace this but if theres a quicker easier solution I'd like to choose that one.

Cheers.

michab is parting out a 2.4 prado... might use the same unit.
Whats the P/N on the box? Can't quite make them out.
Also I may have one as I dont run an ECU anymore.

Ah yes good point, ill flick him a pm.

Ill check the numbers when I get home (Monday) but i think its 89690 - 60060 on the top line and 068000 - 0910 on the bottom line. I guess one of those lines refers to the actual card inside (which i dont need).
