Driving my new lux with 13,000kms on the clock so far, hitting the same hill with the same load,same tyres etc in 4th gear foot flat everyday and at the top it is still only
doing the same speed as my old 1kz hilux.
Have heard a few guy's say it won't be any good until there's around
50,000km's on it. What are peoples real experience's with these 1KD
motor's, does it really take that long for the engine to loosen up??
How's many Km's does a 1KD take until it makes some power??

No. I have had 3 of these. One manual van, one auto van, currently have manual ute wit 15000kms. Apart from taking it easy for the first 1000, these things go like the wind. The auto van was the best for towing but not by much, not sure if it has different ratios etc.
How fast are you trying to go? What hills you trying to go up?

1kz=93kw 287nm
1kd=127kw 352nm
Should be accelerating up most hills loaded up

Here in Nelson the backside of the spooners range a nice reasonably steep
consistent gradient and a straight piece of road. At the top of the passing lane's foot flat in 4th gear it does 94km/h ,same speed as my old 04 hilux
used to do at that point both with same tyres/load etc everyday.
Thought it might have slowly improved but hasn't gotten any faster yet...
