something a bit different..

Post by patroll »

Hi everyone

Have a question i'm hoping someone here might be able to help with.. Wouldn't have a clue where else to ask it really. I have a 97 atlas 150 light truck with a qd32 which i am currently turboing, as i use it for long distance deliveries and it is gutless up hills. The thing is loose in the rear as it is and gets stuck so easily you would not believe.. i have been looking into fitting an lsd/locker to help a little bit. Was hoping i could save the large cost of a locker by fitting something from mr nissan, possibly a shimmed lsd or similar. it currently has an open 3.7 c200. i do not want to go to a lower ratio so swapping out for a whole terrano centre or similar is not an option. My knowledge when it comes to lsd's is limited is it possible just to swap in the lsd part? my other possible option i see is to swap in the guts of an r200 lsd from a silvia/skyline etc. Have done alot of research and found plenty of threads talking about doing it but nothing definitive. Would anyone be able to comment on whether this would likely actually work before i go out and buy the bits to see for myself.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Might pay to pull an axle out and check spline count first, and then get c200 lsd from navara and fit in centre (use your R&P). D22 and D21 have different splines (29 D21 and 31 D22 from memory). Skyline etc (r200) lsd is fine to use as long as its not viscous (most are). Spline is not compatable with your axles for viscous. Aftermarket LSDs can have 30spline axles, making them incompatible with your axles.
