hi there 1st post my name is andy just finnished rebuild on 73 88in running 2.3 petrol from an 85 110 5bearing with the weber 32 34 carb goes sweet had all the usual bulkhead rust .was parked up for 13 years and needed all brakes rebuilt no major chassie rot has just passed wof with no worries. has anyone tried the 3.54 diffs from rrc or pre 93 disco in a series? my motor is srong wont have any worries with grunt but would the step up to higher ratios make drivabilty worse ,its pulling about 3200 rpm at 85 kmh. cheers Andy

cool truck mate. and love the user name. had a old 44 myself before got sick of all the fiberglass repairs. and sunk it over on the coast lol
any way i had a old river basher with a 186 holden motor in it. i put the 12 spline range rover diff heads in and was great on road. off road was still good just missed the really low gearing but was fine .
mine was a straight bolt over job. just swaped the heads over.

I would have thought that 3.5's will be too much with the standard LR engine.
Even with a Holden engine 4.1's or 3.9's were better. The 3.9's were found in the old Rover 90 cars.
Either way you nearly the early diff with 10 spline axles. 3.5's were in Range Rover or very early Discovery up to approx. mid 1993.

Motor is 5 bearing 2.3 with weber twin barrel carb out of 110.is pretty torqey and in good shape seems that 3.54s are the easiest to find .will some day upgrade to 200 TDI
Re: new member
ive got round to fitting the 3.54 diff head in the back still trying to track down another for the front , its transformed the old girl . engine has plenty of tourqe to pull it running 2500 rpm at 80 kmh, 1st low still slow havent tried off road yet
Re: new member
