Gas struts

Post by Mas Mac »

G'Day, Me again :) .
The gas strut on my Samurai rear door needs replacing and I am having trouble finding the correct one. Getting the right size and type is important because it is a b...... nuisance if the door opens too easily or too stiffly. Repco sent me one that seemed correct (for $72!!) but the attachment holes in both ends were wrong so it cannot be attached. The Repco attachment holes were of the ball-and-socket type but that's no good because the holes need to go right through at each end to allow a nut and washer to be screwed on. I never realised how important the gas strut was before! If there is nothing to restrain the door when it opens too far or too fast it can easily wrench the rear door frame out of alignment. Has anyone on this forum bought a bas strut lately or can point me in the right direction?
