Terrano shocks in safari

Post by jeffw »

I've changed from a terrano to a swb safari, I've still got the terrano sitting there and it has a 3 inch suspension lift with adjustable rancho shocks, would the rear shocks work in the safari?

Cheers Jeff

Just had a look at 4WDbits website. Rancho RS5000 shocks for standard truck, compressed length is the same at 375mm and only 9mm difference in extended length. Both EB2 mounts top and bottom however Safari has 19mm id and Terrano is 16mm. So should work if you change bushes, depending on compressed length of the 3" lift Terrano shocks. You may need a small bumpstop extension if too long, EFS shock is listed at approx. 400mm compressed for the Safari so if your shocks have a longer compressed length than this you will probably need to extend bumpstops.

safari has a fat bum, shocks are valved to suit weight ,
adjusting the rs5000's up may not make them suitable,
as your spring rates , dampening and rebound are all mismatched,
ie you buy the shocks to suit your trucks weight, travel and use,
not just because they fill the gap
problems are only a problem if you not willing to learn how to find solutions

That was gonna be the next question, I. Not to fussed on lifting the safari at this point. I just don't think it's worth selling the terrano with the lift in it
