Sure is, solid axles have a far deeper dish in them....don't know the actual dimension difference but you will find an ifs wheel will sit in far to close to the body work if you mount it on a solid axle. Bit of a pain when it comes to getting cheap alloys for a beamie :?

My Solid axle 96 prado has -20 offset. They didn't fit the 95 surf with IFS.

Talking of offsets like the -20 what does this relate to?

I measured some 8" wide 15's the other day (steels for my Prado) and the distance from the inside of the mounting face to the inside edge of the wheel where the tyre bead goes was 90mm. What off set as above would this be?

Very interested in this topic. turns out my beam axle surf may need some 15X7 (think currently 15X6)

ditto?

yes, but would those -20 offset alloys fit an 84 hilux surf? just as a note I saw on a 1994ish toyota surf with similar looking alloys to the prado an offset of -8 or something.

The negative 20 offset relates to the location of the mounting surface of the rim relative to the centre line of the wheel. I think the 20 relates to the surface being 20mm from the centre line. :D

Ok I'm going to ask this in a much simpler way,

Will beam axle prado alloys fit an 84 beam axle hilux/surf?

(need to know the answer to this in a bit of a hurry)

(sorry for the hijack)

Have a look at http://www.4wdbits.co.nz/rimmeasurements.aspx?ProductID=911 for offset and back space measurements.
