Aftermarket Trans Coolers ????

Post by T1M0 »

I'm wanting to get a aftermarket trans cooler for my K96W Challenger as its been recommended by a few of you guys on here plus i have also read alot of ozzy forums that suggest getting them to.

Trans coolers are abit new to me so any suggestions are welcone as to brand size and price.

I've read about fan assisted trans coolers what is the difference

Cheers

Try to get a davies craig brand, or one from Marshall transmissions. I'm saying get a good quality one.The cheaper ones from NZKW look perfectly fine, but several have been known to sprout leaks , which is just not worth the risk.
If you are doing extended heavy towing, get as big a one as you can fit, try to avoid blocking the airflow to radiator if you have any potential overheating issues.
the ones with electric fans attached are useful if you have to mount it in a place that doesn't get enough airflow. People either wire them up with an on/off switch, or hook up a temp controller, so it comes on/off at preset temps. In this situation, an override switch is also usually included.
A trans cooler is the best thing you can do for your trans.Followed by keeping the fluid clean(either changing or flushing).

Davies craig coolers are sold at supercheap where i got mine and then mounted a fan on it fan assisted means an elec fan forcing air through rather than relying on air flow
