24v Dash Leds

Post by juz »

My Cruiser had a few blown dash lights so while I had the dash in pieces for fitting new stereo etc thought Id replace the blown bulbs.
Turns out nobody stocks 24v 3w bulbs but the guy at jaycar did a little diagram for me on how to make my own led ones. Now Id usually give anything electrical to a sparky but it looked easy enough so heres a how too...

Cost about $30 for the 12v leds (which i just needed for the casings), resistors and the new green leds (current bulbs in dash are green).

Just run a knife around the bulb bit to cut the glue and pull it out. Just the base is needed.

The resistors.

Cut one side of the new green leds and solder on the resistor.

Run a bit of superglue around the case and push the led in folding over the wires out the end. I had to shave a little lip off each led so they fit in the case.

Things youll need. Ill post up a pic once dash is back together, hope they work!
