Hilux front Diff same as the rear

Is the front diff in a hilux the same as a rear one?

If it's got a solid front axle, then yup, they are the same.

If it's got the independent front suspension, then they run a different, smaller front diff.

So a rear diff will work in the front? I had a thought that the crown wheel was the other way round in a front diff

Mehrts has it right, Solid axle are the same front and rear, IFS rear diff is the same also, but front diff is smaller.
Prado rear diffs are the same as Hilux diffs also.
