Battery light staying on - but charging ok?

Why would my battery light be staying on dimly when the engine is running? It comes on properly with ignition on but engine off, the alternator is charging the battery at the proper 14.5V while running, voltmeter in dash reading normal too, have checked connections at alternator & battery to be tight.

I think it started doing it after I'd had the dash off so took that out again, checked the plugs & gave them a shot of electrical CRC, but no change. One other thing I did then was chop out the redundant (V8 swap) diesel fuel filter & glow plug warning lights but dunno how that could be a problem? What else should I check? Any help from the electrical gurus appreciated.

I think a bad earth somewhere would cause this? Maybe you chopped out a wire that was to do with more than 1 warning light
