Charcoal canister on Jap import

Post by 3rnzir »

I saw a guy on YT a Mrbeamerdave.
Great vids about the D1 using a ECUmate scanner.
I noticed in his D1 engine bay the charcoal canister had been removed.
My truck has had the cats removed.
Can I do the same with the charcoal canister?
Does the ECU need to be reprogrammed to remove the CC?
Jap D1s seem to have alot more emissions fruit.

Why would you want to remove charcoal canister? Its a much a fuel economy device as it is a emissions reducer.

i'm a bit rusty on petrols, but charcoal canister is to stop petrol vapors (eg from the tank) to reach the air. the vapor is collected/stored in the canister and burnt off in certain situations.
afaik theres no performance reduction from having the system. i think the vapors are burnt off on back throttle.

only remove them when the system plays up and just vent tank to air.
