On the 15th of Feb we are running a fundraiser 4wd trip from Waipara fire station (north Canterbury) to Amberley beach via the Waipara river. Here is the info which I have posted on Facebook.
Here we go people, just over a month to go
The plan is registration at 10am at the Waipara Fire Station (Waipara is 7km north of Amberley on SH1). This will include a driver briefing and a quick get to know one another. I have organised a few capable trucks with experienced drivers as support vehicles to help un-stick stuck trucks and offer advice if needed.
The plan is to drive from the Fire Station, into the Waipara river just above SH1 then down stream to Amberley rocks (north end of Amberley beach) and back. We plan to return to the station around 4pm.
This trip is open to anyone with a 4wd and will be a great family day out. 4wd experience is not needed as there will be experienced people to help you out if needed. All towballs must be removed prior to starting as this will be the only recovery point on quite a few trucks (safety is paramount)
Cost is $60 per vehicle with all proceeds going to the Waipara Volunteer Fire Brigade.
A sausage sizzle is planned but we are yet to confirm if it'll be at the beach or at the Station on our return.
The Waipara river is a great river to drive. It can be as easy or as hard as you like. It is a great river to learn to drive your truck off road in.
Come along, have a great day out and help a great cause.
