91 Terrano LSD Rear end leaking.. Advice?

Post by implanted »

Hi guys. I am in the USA and really love this forum. You guys are always so helpful. I figured I'd pose the question as to "Guess the leak point" by the attached photo and then pose the question : How do I repair? Gaskets, o-ring, etc?

Thank you all!

Looks like it's leaking from the filler hole to me, hard to say really. Perhaps check if it's tight first and if it is then maybe pull it out completely and check the seal :D

Is there a gasket or anything behind it? I want to be prepared before I pull it out. I was thinking filler hole / maybe the vent is clogged?

rtv on the threads
and yes check the vent as pressure could well be your enemy here
question??
has the truck been swimming? if so the diffs may be fill with water doing all sorts of goodness to the r&p and bearings

if the oil is way over fill then this is a good giveaway that water has been added

X2 on water in the diff as that breather hose doesn't appear to be attached (little flappy rubber hose at the top)
