Post by Ryanthompson930 »

Does anyone know where the keyless entry module is located on a Nissan terrano r50?

there were two depending on the year

the later ones had the NATS (nissan anti thieft system) which was bult into the engine ecu and then the earlier R50 has what (according to the workshop manual) the "smart entrance control unit" which controls the rear window latch, locks, immobiliser which is a stand alone system.

it is behind the fuse and relay bank, lower drivers knee panel, 36 pin combination plug the plug may be in two plugs, one with 10 heavier gauge wires and the rest in one long plug.

Is there anything specific you want to know about it.?

Well, I have just recently purchased a keyless entry plus it has remote start, to replace my old original one. Im hoping I can't pull the old on out and just cut and connect the new wires from the new module two the old harness. I know my terrano has only got the keyless entry, and nothing else

Remote starts are illegal on manual vehicles and wont work on a diesel engine as you need to heat glow plugs first. So basicslly just track down the main door lock actuator to the drivers door and hook into that. That will then trigger all the doors..

Weird I have seen more than a couple manuals with remote starts fitted. Even seen one bunny hopped in the carpark with no driver in it as a result. Maybe just aftermarket fittment with an alarm or something.

Mines an auto, and the remote start system I have got actually has an option to delay the start of the vehicle. So I can set it to how long it takes the glow plug lights to go out. That was a good point though!

So it has two different out puts for the start sequence one a timer ign on and the other to the start solenoid. ... mine just has ign start i used the boot lock function to turn the headlights on via a timer relay since the mistrals rear door is wired into the normal central locking,
