Evening all, I own a hilux with a home job 1uz fitted.
Have done plenty of work including cooling system, brake and clutch lines , re wired the whole car and now the clutch is on it's way out.
Am getting tired of paying my local mechanic money when he's searching for advice from other mechanics. I'm after some one who's able to rip the gearbox out and tell me exactly what needs to be in there to handle the 1UZ motor.
So, suggestions of mechanics? Who won't really charge an arm and a leg
Cheers

you wont really know what clutch(s) you can fit until you find out what sort of flywheel they made or adapted for the engine

Re: Toyota hikux 1uz clutch
get your clutch re-built and get them to increase the clamping force from the pressure plate and get your clutch Kevlar buttoned that's what ive done to mine when I cooked it.

Re: Toyota hikux 1uz clutch
IF its a 1uz flywheel you should be able to buy a heavy duty pressure plate off the shelf.
if it''s a hilux gearbox you could be limited in choice unless the input shaft was common accross say the supra or cresta that had the 2jzgte with a big clutch in it.
