Oil pressure gauge

Post by Stuck »

Right, now iv searched on here, and in google, but cant find any real decent explainations on where to put the sender.. I read one from Dieselboy, but cant understand the 'T' part...

So can someone please explain how I install an oil pressure gauge!

The one I have is electrical, got it as part of a deal with my boost gauge on the sr20, but have read that maybe mechanical ones are better? I know that mech boost gauges are better, so guess its the same for these?

Might have to dig into the xmas wallet again.....

Hi there, the T part is a brass t shaped connection you buy from Paykels.Ripco etc.. then you hook up the pipe that goes to your mech gauge to one end,the old electrical fitting to the other end then attach to engine with remaining end. A lot simpler than it sounds and you get a true reading.. 8) well worth doing.

The original sender is down on the block, on the drivers side, under the intake manifold, roughly at the same level as the injector pump but about mid way along the block. Its a reasonably large ( 50mm give or take) round unit, possibly under a black rubber dust cover with an electrical pug and two wires coming from it. It won't be hard to find now you know where to look :D

Oh I got rid of the sr20 turbo a few months back, who wants a 2.0L turbo when they can have a 2.7L turbo?? TD27 power baby!

Right I think iv got it, so I look for the original sender, im pretty sure I know what it looks like, take that out of the block, put in a T, and put the original sender on one tap, and the gauge sensor on the other.. Ya?

Cheers guys
