Suggestions where I could get a valuation for my stolen 4x4?

Post by 88lux »

Some asshat stole my 1988 double cab Hilux last month and finally the insurance company have agreed to pay out. Only trouble is they've provided a valuation for my truck that says it's only worth $3000. My Hilux had a 2" suspension lift and 33" KL71s, a new gearbox, recently reconditioned diffs etc. Even ignoring the mods (which I had notified the insurance company of), I can't find a double cab, manual. diesel Hilux for sale for less than about $5000, but the insurance company have now put the onus on be to provide a valuation stating that it's worth more. Does anyone know where I could go to get a valuation - preferably by someone who is going to consider what they actually sell for rather than "oh that's an old vehicle"?

I doubt any valuer would be able to give you written report without seeing the truck first. Since its gone now, it would be subject to finding a friendly valuer happy to put his professional reputation on the line.

If they think they are that easy to find in that price range ask if they would be happy to supply a replacement.
