cruiser is Toymoda, LD28 is single o/head cam Nissan

Dam good donk, Richie (Rolloverrover ha sone in his Series 3/2a/Toyota/Nissan Landrover. Goes like stink too.

Dunno about straight swap, probly have to make mounting plate. Still a good choice. revs out well, but would benefit with forced draught device.

a good engine for your 40 diesel conversion is a 3b.. great 3.4 ltr engine with legendary reliability, in my eyes anyhow.. :D

as for bolting straight up to the 2f engine mounts, i doubt it, but that'll be hardly worth ya worries.. watch the main spline/ spigot bearing thing too.. it'll be a different size possibly but definitely a different length..

they're pretty cheap engines the old 3b.. mine keeps tickin as does h2olova's.. i dont do maintenance to my 'ole rusty' though..

also watch ratios in your diffs.. may be slightly different to that of the diesel engined 40's..?

my 2c worth.. i may be a trifle biased too.. :D

Think you Diesel boys are all on drugs

The 2F is a mean engine :!: Only reason I could think of taking it out is if blown up then you`d have to go a 350 Chevy or Lexus V8

After the Diesel Safari I had vs the 2F crusier I`ve got now - I`d never go back to diesel

yeah i thought about a 3b but hear they have about 80 hp which is a bit slow really but would consider it. Just trying to find other options if there are any. The 2f dosent seem that bad the only thing that i dont like is the fuel consumption ive got a lpg tank which i could fit only needs its cert. If anyone has a 3b with or without gbox they want to sell let me know.

Hey Tom - talk to Eddie at Delta 4WD - I think he's still got some diesel bits. But I reckon you should reconsider the 2F. Mine cost under $500 to replace rings & big end bearings & have the head recond with 80 thou shave. Running really well now. Chuck the LPG kit on & you're running cheaper than diesel with no RUC, with a much better engine & no hassles with engine mounts & gearbox matching. Call around & take mine for a run if you want a feel for a good 2F on LPG.

yeah thanks ill do that sometime whenever its fine for you. Do you run your lpg all the time or do you swith it to petrol for offroading.

I run LPG all the time. I can't notice any power difference, and it seems more responsive on LPG, but that's probably cos the carb is a bit gooed up with dry seals from not having petrol going through it. I only use petrol when the LPG runs out on long trips. I've also heard (but not experienced) that the carb can be prone to fuel starvation on extreme angles. Not a problem with LPG though! The only downside of LPG is the annual LPG WOF ($60), and a 10 yearly tank inspection. And finding somewhere to mount the tank...

heaps of 13bt's around if you need more power....be cheaper /easier to fit than a stinky ld28, as its basically a bolt in with 3b/13bt, gearbox spacer/mounts/radiator/misc parts all avail s/hand and cheap.
