GQ tie rod upgrade?

Post by gary_in_nz »

Hello and good weekend to all,
Just wondering the safari owners out there how often they have been straightening there tie rods between the two front steering hubs? I have had to straighten mine about 4 or 5 times now and was wondering if there is a mod or best to go with heavy duty tie rod to stop bending it? its not a problem having this strong and wont damage anything else down the line? Cheers!!

Mine has bent and been straightened more times than I can remember, Kaiapoi Repowers down here are doing heavy chrome moly rods with GU
ends on them for not too much coin...i'll probably go down that road.

That's cool cheers for the replies I have him looking for something else for me as well so will be in touch again with him.

Yeah I have straightened my one several times if you run a straight edge down it it's a slight zig zag

We have the road safe ones in stock for $250 but I am trying to get around to making solid ones also but I do worry about the tie rods snapping even with the big internally threaded ones !
