Tyres for '95 LWB Vit

Post by dtchch »

Hey all, I recently bought a 2.0l V6 Vitara 5 door and am looking to upgrade tyres. I plan on getting 50mm lift springs first then upgrading the tyres.
I'm having a little trouble finding tyre choices for the 16" Rims

Reading Auszookers forums, they tend to recommend 225/75r16 as being the biggest tyres without rub on a standard truck.

I guess my question is does anyone have a suggestion for tyre size on this truck with 2" suspension lift?
Also what width tyre can I fit on the stock 16" rims? I'd like to fit on around the 30" mark if I can.

I've been thinking about 255/70r16 but these are possibly too wide (10"), or something like 215/85r16 with less width and more height?

Cheers for any suggestions!

The narrower the tyre the easier it will be to fit I would go for the 225/75R16 as it's a reasonably common size and a good fit on the standard rims anything narrower would pop beads too easy as they are a 7" rim.

On my 4dr Vit I did 235/75R16 and was ideal size...no rub (juuuuuuuust missed) with a 2" Tough Dog lift (no body lift). I used GTRadial Savero MT's and found them absolutely brilliant pattern for the Vit - good and luggy for when crawling and cleared great when spun them.
