93 Prado brake balance & handbrake adjustment?

Post by rowinz »

Helping a friend get WOF for his 93 Prado. His front brakes are not balanced, LH grips more than RH. We've polished the pistons, replaced seals, bled it all and are now scratching our heads...
Anyone got any ideas as to what might be causing this imbalance in the front end only???

Also how do you adjust the handbrake? Been looking for the drum inside the rear discs with a wee hole to stick the screwdriver in, but kunna find it. Perhaps the Prados have something more cunning than 70 Landcruisers...Do you have to take the wheel off to adjust?!

Truck is a KZJ71 (SWB 3.0)
Cheers

Rear hand brake: Rotate the disc til the hole is at the very bottom.
Insert a small screw driver , you will find a wheel with small castleated notch's in it, once on that wheel, with the driver handle going downwards ,to expand the shoes.

Did you grease the slides on the caliper?

Thanks for your help guys, got balance sorted by just working the pistons in and out a fair bit. Truck has been sitting rarely used for a few months, just started to bind a bit.

Thanks Oldblue on the handbrake - not the easiest thing to adjust, but got there nonetheless.
