the talked about supra conversion

Post by conan »

been bouncing round the entire forum reading about the supra conversion. but i read too many now im confused
i have 87 surf 2.4 turbo diesel(2-LT), thinking bout conversion coz was conned into buyin the surf and budda bing .....F* all power(anywhere)
but does anyone have a clear opinion on conversion, 5MG-EU is suppose to fit pretty much straight in and do justice. but does it??
one guy was talking about engine bay being to short, another saying it needs raised 2" to fit?? can it only be done with solid axle or independent can work as well???
HELP!!!! :?

so the 5M out of a 5 speed supra(MA-61??) has the W58 Bellhousing which will allow everything to be bolted straight in with no mods...

doner car between 500 and 800, whats the cost of certification if all goes well??

thats a good read suprasurf im enlightened :)

You won't need to touch the shocks etc cos thats all part of the chassis.

cheers mike, if ya cant tell theres a reason i put my first post in here,
been doin the reading round forum startn to get an idea of the ongoin habits or maybe addictions people have developed with their projects

keen on the supra conversion though,

love to go the whole way and change to coils and solid axles but funds and time are the issue........at the moment ... so will do the engine conversion to supra , which means 50mm body lift and replace the 6inch(yes 6 inch rims) that came with it to 8 inch wrapped in pirelli scorpions (Any good ?... their cheap was my reasoning)

would this be a logical start in the right direction???? keen on any ideas for short and long term mods eg diff locks , suspension
