January 20th and 21st.
Technically speaking Friday wasn't the weekend, but it was close enough. Went down the Waipara for a play at the horseshoe. Had heaps of fun, was great. Shot a couple of hares while there too.
Saw another member in a gold Terrano. Not sure who it was though.

Found a couple of hours to give the old girl a bit of a tune up. It's amazing how quiet the old 2F can be with properly adjusted valves! Now humming like a sewing machine. Cleaned out the carb too - so now I've removed the flat spot I had when hitting the throttle. Never worried too much cos I normally run on LPG. All ready now for the Reefton Challenge in April. Of course I'll break something before then....
Re: January 20th and 21st.
Went up to Lake Sumner with 4wdnuts, Philux,Jeep4079, and Elmo. Good trip, and good to put more names to faces.
Passed someone in a red surf heading towards Blenheim on Friday in a Red Surf with a ORE sticker on the back window, who was it?
Also passed a few guys on my way intpo ChCh for tea on Sat arvo (Tim, etc) where did you guys end up going?
Oh, well, off to clean the crap out of the radiator

Turned the old 60 into a semi useful machine again. She has been sitting in the yard for about 4 yrs now and the body is rusty as hell, but everything else works fine.
So I thought I would turn her into a lightweight crane.
Have lifted up a couple of deisel engines and moved them around and the front of Rokmutts donor car (Toyota royal saloon), So I figure it can handle about 500 - 750 kgs.

Terrano TD 2.7 and a ssangyong Rexton
weekend
took a trip up thompsons track , didn't make it to the top as a rock snapped my rear panhard rod, had to use a snik chain to limit the axles movement , still moved over a 100mm to the right In places that track is grade 4/5. My son ran down behind me to make sure ithe chain held, then drove home slowly at first till I got to good roads and managed a steady 80k home. May rebuild the rod bigger and better .

Usual stuff for Sat, did a bit of that four letter word thing that you normally do during the week, I did manage to finish the WOF work on my brother in laws Isuzu Bighorn.
It was a good list which included front wheel bearings and a power steer pump top seal.
I now have two Isuzu Bighorns in the drive for the week!!
I wonder if he would notice if I gave him back my 1989 one in place of his 95

Some nicely modded vitaras there too - 1 vitara body on a shortened rangie chassis (rover V8 etc), vitara chassis/body with Rangie running gear, SR20 engine, auto, and another running a Commy V6 and hilux running gear.... Fawkin camera went flat after 10 photos

Ya reckon I could shoe horn one of those engines into my truck?

That's out of the Monte Stello:
It's the new Strait Shipping passenger ferry, part of the Bluebridge fleet. It went through a massive overhaul at the end of 2006 when it arrived in the country and during a refurbishment they discovered some pretty big issues with it.
That block and crank has been sitting there since September (although it looks as though it's moved since I saw it). I can't remember how much that is worth as scrap, but it's in the thousands apparently.
