TD27T RPM Wiring for Navara

Post by Shaun »

I have put a TD27T out of a Terano into a D21 Navara and looking for some info on wiring up the Rev counter. The original rev counter came off the alternator I think and this one comes off the injector pump. Anyone know how to wire this up?

Cheers

Take your alternator(td27) to a auto sparky and ask him to install a pickup wire from one of the fields. That will give a signal similar to your original arrangement. As I'd say your tacho has been altered to suit. If it isnt you will need to figure out the pulley sizes and calculate how many times the alt spins in relation to tye crank shaft and install a resistor to suit....However the TD uses a negative pulse. The two wire pickup from the injector pump timing gear housing is basically similar to how a abs sensor and ring gear work one wire is a negative ground the other goes to the tachos converter that will convert the pulse reading into a signal that the tacho can read.
Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.

The sensor in the TD27 run off the oil pump gear, The TD27T run off the injector pump gear.
I have tried swapping the wiring between the too and it doesnt work.
The rpm gauges are different also, The TD27T rpm runs through the EGR computer. The TD27 runs direct to the gauge.
You could possibly take the rpm sensor of the TD27 and drill tap into the slot near Oil pump gear.

Assuming the D21 had the TD27
