Im wrecking a rangerover

Post by turoa »

After having blown the transfercase on the Rangie, I am regretfully pulling it apart to wreck for spares. It requires a bit of work to get road legal again, and it has a lot of dents. I no longer have 4 matching tyres as one of them blew apart on the haywards road. There is an LPG kit up for grabs, but mike had his eye on it for awhile, and has asked me to sell it to him first quite awhile ago. Otherwise that is up for grabs (MrO  ).

The money I get off this will go toward getting my LandRover going and on the road, so buy away.

I will be very sad to see it go, but hopefully Ill see you guys out on the trail fourwheeling sometime soon.

The motors *nearly* stuffed. My dad thought that the engine was going to go before before the transfercase.

If you need any confirmation on how stuffed the engine is, ask anyone who was stupid enough to follow me Image

I'm pretty sure the early disco's were the exact same, but the later ones had more splines and therefore stronger.

However, still does not get away from the big wheels & tyres = more stress on the running gear, regardless of what vehicle it is.

Don't think so, not the early 10 spline ones fitted to Disco's up to about '94. I can vouch for that, only broken 4 so far. :(
The later 24 spline had stronger axles but the carriers themselves are not much of an improvement. Certainly not worth the money some people try to sell them for.
