Project Lemon Body Work

Post by De-Ranged »

Gidday all

Finally got a chance to do something other than work
Coin has been  "is" an issue so the fun stuff is on hold till I can get some spare coin

Decided to go with the Lexus that I've got sitting but I'm gona bolt it up to an auto which I don't have 8) anyone got a cheap surf auto....

Anyway I needed to fit the lexus so I had to put the body back on Damm she sits high

I plotted out my wheel travel, got an idea of how far up into the gard the wheel is gona go marked it up on the gard and worked out where to cut. I like the shape of the gen 1 gards the way they flare out so I decided to cut out the waste from above and move the flare out and put in some bits to expand it a bit

Heres what I ended up with
Image
What'a think  big enough hole
I"ve got better pic's including how I did it... I just can't get them from the cammera to the computer as my pupy chewed the data cable

When I have the gard all finished I'm going to use them to make a a set of molds when I trash them I can make some new ones

Cheers Reece

Nice work those guards look like a supermodel just about perfect, and not much left to them.

Next mod may be the rope stepladder on the doors so you can get in and out

Sure you have enough ground clearance?

Good luck with the lemon funny thing is with winter comming everyone seem's a little more motivated.

Perhaps I better get into the garage too.

It WAS a gen 1 when I started, now the only bit that is.. is the cab

Hey sorry Steve missed your post 027 541 8794

Go for it James it is easyer than it looks take your time, throw backing strips under your welds and keep your welds short to minimise warpage... oh and remember the old shop saying measure twice cut once  just ask Tu's

I might be getting some time to work on things... not by choice :? one of my boys smashed half the winch off the back of my bully so there maybe a bit of downtime while thats getting fixed  and just when I could see light at the end of the tunnel  Oh well

Bad luck Reece, without wanting to sound like a noob what's a bully?

Bulldozer? If so that would have a laaaaarge winch. What did he smash it with?

Yea it is a bulldozer about 20ton worth, as for the winch somewhere between 1.5 and 2 Ton takes 50m of 22mm rope

As for what it was smashed with... I was told it hadn't been hit by anything  the fact it had a piece of log as thick as your thigh smashed up and broken off between the winch and the bully which also smashed the hydrolic fittings off as well :? hmmmm

From the prices I've got back so far I'm looking at $15000 to fix :( all becoase he didn't look behind when winching up ....
