Post by icekayak »

Right so thought it was about time i wrote some of this build up...
decided I wanted something a little more capable than the vitara, so am gonna sell it eventually (if anyones interested in a road legal vitara, rear arb locker, 31's, snorkle, arb bar etc... should have it forsale in few months time)

Truck is being built up to use as a bit of a safari type truck, will be road legal, and not a daily driver...

Plan is:
SJ413 LWB Convertable
Fibreglass Canopy
6 Point Cage
2" Spring Lift
2" Virtual Lift
31" Tyres
Rear Lockrite
Bucket Seats & Harnesses
Rock Lobster
Checkerplate rear deck/False Floor which turns into bed
Hippo Liner in front.
Snorkle/Modified air Intake
Stereo, Marine Speakers
In Cab PRS
Warn HS9500 Winch
Rock Sliders
Side Bars

Longer Term:
Rear Bar
Power Steering
Front Locker
Rear Disc's
BIGGER TYRES!!!
? Springover
? Bigger Engine
? Hilux/? diffs

And the shopping starts and now I'm a really broke student...
-Got some 31" Groundhogs on zuk rims - not sure if i'll stay with them, hoping to get some simex's or may keep my pirelli scorpions off the vitara...
-Jamex Bucket Seats :D -Hmm now that their home they seem a little tight for long distances, will see how they go.
-Gearbox, transfer case (have discovered its a 410 one, so will keep it for now to get the lower low range), driveshaft, and a few other bits and pieces and have got bits for a rocklobster lined up.
-Rear lockrite from rocky-road
-Parts to fix warn winch
-Fibreglass Canopy (Thanks lilpig)
- 2" lifted Maxitrac springs, and toughdog bushes, shocks 2 come
- Rust Killer, Paint, Rhino liner etc...

Managed to paint the chassis with chassis black :D
Undersealed bits and pieces of the floor (will eventually do the whole thing)

been playing with wheel wells

Installed gearbox, transfer, fuel tank, starter and started the motor :D :D it had been sitting for a while and started first try :D :D

Went to install diffs outta the other truck and discovered they were a bit worse than i first thought... so have had to fit all new bearings ($$$), and repack all the hubs etc grrr... but got the front all done and installed the rear lockrite, and painted the brake drums.

Ok so they ended up red, but thats only cos it was all ripco had in stock and i wanted to paint them before they rusted again...

and this is where i'm about upto currently :D

Cool! Iwas thinking of building a lwb 413 before I started on the Cruiser, but was put off cos they all either looked like your one did, or cost almost the same as the Cruiser which already had all the suspension, diffs, etc that I needed. Good to see someone's brave enough to attempt a resurrection.

Cheers
