Silverstone tyres

Post by NA_Drifter »

Hi, I wondering if anyone here heard of/use Silverstone 4x4 tyres?

The MT-117
Image

They used to be very popular in Malaysia for 4x4 as you can't really get big tyres and at very affoardable price.. This are normaly found on the army Unimog only. There is 285/85/16 which overall diameter is 900mm!
http://www.silverstone.com.my/tyre_mt117_spec.asp

Is there any Silverstone tyres dealer in NZ?

From their website, they also do MT-117 XTREME which look like the Simex
Image

I wonder what the price like compare to Simex.

Also if no one sell them in NZ, I wonder if there will be enough interest to bring them to NZ??.. something like a group buy? as I got contact in Malaysia.

The company bringing them in has yet to finalise all the finer points. I would expect to see them in 4-6 months. Yes I am waiting for them too, will have to buy another set of 33's while I wait.

Arron & Mitch run the extreme pattern on their winch challange truck and Darrin Neely used to, but now runs Simex.

As Mike said above, we run them on our winch truck...have been since mid 2005. Original NZ distributer has since dropped the range and Palmside Motorsport in ChCh are intending to pick it up.

Talk to Dean Buist at Palmside, he was hoping to get a shipment when some become available in June / July. Do a search on this topic where I posted the sizes available...was a month or so ago.

Here is the old thread.. go to the bottom post for sizes available ex Malaysia. The Aussies are already getting the 11.5's, but unfortunately we only get the dregs.

Well, is there any update about the Silverstone tyres?
I'm planning to bring in some near future as I'm sorting out the details and shipping etc at the moment... also possibly Simex as well as I can get very good price on them. Just wondering how many peoples are interested and how many and what size etc...

I am keen on a set of 35". What approx price range are you looking at. At the moment if you shop around you can get simex tyres for a little over $400 ea. Will you be doing better than that? If so, I will be a definate starter for one set. Either silverstone or simex I dont mind which.

Ok, Well I'm still waiting for the price list to arrive. At the moment, I'll be only bring in a set or 2 and see what the price like. I'll post back on here when I get the price list and shipping cost. Due to only sending a few and by boat all the way from Malaysia, it going to take a month or 2 to get here. If there is more demand, might have to sort out something and sort out the gst thing. Cos at the moment, is mainly for personal use.
Keep an eye on this topic in the next few weeks,

Hi all,

Got some rough price for the MT-117
Image

285/85/16 6PR (overall diameter 900mm) approx NZ$300-350 each

750-16C 8PR(also have 10PR,12PR), 824mm, approx NZ$285-330 each

This are only approx price... very likely will be cheaper depending on shipping and quantity I'm going to get. At the moment just individual post by ship which going to take around 2 months to get to NZ.

I trying to get the MT-117 Sport as they more suitable for road use than the MT117 and they are 15".

For those who are interested, can you please PM me or post it here and then I can work out how to send it and what the cost going to be like. Please visit the Silverstone website http://www.silverstone.com.my/

and list which one you want, size and quantity.

Thanks

Keith

I had to ring palmside on a different matter the other day, and asked about the silverstone 4wd tyres. by memory, the reply was that he had a few on order, but was not getting much info out of the factory and was just waiting to see what happens. he was pretty confident that he would be getting them at some stage.

We'll have a range of MT-117 Xtremes available ex stock in the next week or two. Initial sizes might be a bit limited but we'll work on that over time. 35 inch should be less than $350.00, 31's about $300.00.

Are 35's for 15" rims easy to get? Do you think this will be product line you're able to source for the forseeable future? Just wondering for down the track, I like the looks of that pattern......

The plan is to have a range of Silverstone tyres available with a study supply for the foreseeable future. The factory doesn't have the capacity for current demand, but we expect to get our share. We should have 35/10.5-16 and some others available soon with 35/10.5-15, 35/11.5-15 and 35/11.5-16 available soon after.
