He obviously had the wrong translation of the handbook
Obviously thought Permanant 4WD meant just that & hasn't used the Centre Diff Lock.
Come across many townies through the Lindis pass that have changed into 4WD - but never locked hubs - and then complained why the fell off the road. (Mainly Aucklanders in rentals a few years ago I admit)
