I have e-mailed them and they say they do not hace a chip/unit for this vehicle. They even tell you this on ther website they don't make one for this truck because it has a mechanical fuel pump.

i ran one of these with a real hillbilly lpg setup a few years back .
basically a bbq bottle with reg, hose out the window and into the air box, find a hill and crack the tap.
only prob was trying to slow down and forgetting the bottle was still flowing.
you could head down to a wreckers and source an lpg solenoid, hook it to a pressure switch on the manifold or a microswitch on the gas pedal

Haha, wicked. Along the lines of diesel fumigation, try this site http://dieselgas.com.au/home.htm. I think they now have a NZ distributor.

Was installing an airtec snorkel today and noticed that brfore the arifilter there is a box that comes off the pipe between the snorkel and airfilter. It is all factory. Was wanting to know what this is for??? I I disconect this and block off the pipe(hole) will increase performance any??
What are your thoughts?

they may be a half-arse 'helmholtz resinator', most trucks have them
they give a slight pulse tuning effect to increase volumetric efficiency at low revs. I wouldnt remove it.

it will be on the back of the pump ( the side with the 4 pipes coming out to the injectors)

the screw should have a seal on it, kinda like paint. take a digital photo before you move it
and only move it 1/8 th of a turn, even less.
and considering you are playing with about 3k worth of motor, invest in a pyro (or EGT) gauge to make sure your exhaust temps dont get too hot:i think 1300'c or maybe its 1250.. ask a specialist turbo shop
rich diesel + more boost=hot exhaust = hot pistons and valves = melting - remember a diesel is not like a petrol engine, more fuel means more heat

its only temp thats the problem- i dont think an oxy sensor will tell you egt (EXHAUST GAS TEMP)
i dont think the mazda will run an oxy sensor

But before you do, buy an EGT gauge and install it with the probe before your turbo. Because melted engines aren't fun you need to keep the exhaust gas temps below 750 deg C.
LPG fumigation can give lots of power, but the detonation it causes isn't good for your engine.

*edit*
Looks like that's already been said, but it's worth saying again.

2.5TD ??

i think you guys are missing the basics.

first thing..............FIT GAUGES ! boost and exhaust temp. otherwise you will be walking around blind folded!

2nd, exhaust. unless they are one of the few that come with a big exhaust you will need to replace the exhaust with a decent highflow exhaust.

get rid of EGR system including any egr butterfly in intake.

this is probably one of those useless models that are really gutless off boost.
a boost controller will help get boost on a litle quicker and playing with boost compensator (assuming no ECU) to get fueling up a bit earlier which helps to get the boost up quicker. an EGT gauge is a MUST HAVE for doing fuel mods. really easy to over do it and melt your pistons.

Yes they are mechanical and they have no EGR.

A bit (very) hopeless off boost but drive them between 2000 & 3500 they go very well. If you are modifying one, make sure before you get carried away get the radiator taken out and cored, they are well known for filling them up with crud that a flush won't shift and you can just about count on a new head at about 180 000 to 200 000 k or 4 years... especially if this is not done.

do i need to use a wide band o2 sensor or is a std narrow band ok?
sorry my bad i got a/f mixtures and temp sensors mixed up.
can any one confirm which way to wind the screw on the fuel pump?
i replaced my air box with a pod filter and even though the "diesel" sound is louder you can hear the turbo spool up but the best thing is off boost performance is great it no longer takes ages to get up to 2000rpm when the turbo kicks in. next step is 2.5" exhaust (with egt) then bigger inercooler only then ill start tweaking the fuel pump

Hay NJv6 what do you mean by recoring the radiator, are the factory ones substandard? should i be looking for a larger one or a standard size aftermarket one ok. thanks for all the help and tips people much appreciated.

Most pod filters don't filter well at all. I'd go back to the original intake system and try to improve airflow through it.

As Kiwibacon said, pod filters flow well but filter poorly.

I meant to say get the radiator rodded, not cored sorry. As in, take the top and bottom tanks off the radiator and cleaned by a specialist. $100 well spent. I'm not sure where it comes from but they clog up. (alot of experience with them - company cars)

And more power will just mean the 5th gear will need replaced even more often!

Hi 2002 should be an electronically controlled pump.

Try http://www.dragonperformanceuk.com I was a dealer for them in Spain and fitted a few units to the Ford Ranger / Mazda bounty family.

Also the intercooler on these is really tiny! Biff it and fit a aftermarket full width one, wind up the boost a little too and she will go pretty well.

Cheers Muddymatt
