Hilux auto transmission won't change

I have a Hilux Surf Automatic which recently stopped changing gear for me.

If I manually change from low to 2nd to drive all seems ok.

The overdrive light comes on but this too seems to make no apparent difference.

Also if I kick down the throttle it doesn't change down.

Just wondering if anyone has come accross this and has a remedy.

I was advised to check the transmission fluid level but this is fine, I will however change the fluid soon to see if it makes a difference..

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

I would take it down to a mechanic and get it checked. I hate to say it, but my dad had a problem that sounds fairly similar, wouldn't change gear and the O/D was crapping out, and that was the end of that gearbox. He had to have another one put in.

So I would take it down and get it checked.

Yes when the kids have finished spending my money for xmas I think that's what I'll have to do, but in the meantime anyone who thinks they have any advice please let me know.
