hydraulic line as fuel hose?

I have some left over 400psi 3/8 hydraulic hose i was thinking about using as fuel line in my diesel cruiser. Bad idea? does it disolve it?

I'm pretty sure that its the other way round.

I know that when I had water/fuel line on my power steering, the ATF fluid ate the hose till it burst.

Not ideal. Won't last anywhere as long as the proper stuff. Will do for now though to get you out of the shit if need be.

Also just remember if the fuel does eat away at the hose that the sh*t is then going through your engine and may possibly clog your fuel filter.

Grab a small section 15 - 20 mm of hose and stick it into some diesel (ice cream container) and see what happens, I think Hydraulic fluid is more corrosive than diesel but would tes it for a week.

You want to cut it open and compare it to a new cut open section also put a filter on the end of the line before the pump and engine in case it does perish.

Good luck, and it is the additives that usualy cause the issues not the diesel itself.

ergh I just spent $200 on hoses and fittings at Enzed.....
Just out of interest, what is the cost price of 3/8 400psi hyd hose? it cost me about $20/m
