Here's the story..
Gonna take a Hilux Surf from a mild state of modification to a dedicated Rock Crawler.
This is the clay to be moulded as purchased....
IFS conversion to solid axle, 5M-GE donk, rears up front, falcons in the back, rear disk conversion, bobbed.
The toy has been dereged and will most likely suffer some body damage on the trail so the reg / wof thing ain't worth it.
The plan is going to be in two parts.
Part 1 is the addition of 37" MTRs, Hi Steer, locked F&R, Longfields and Dual Transfercase with 4.7 gears.
This should create a toy a step up from the previous wreckage with the xtra low gears in the second transfer case
So the Longfields have arrived and we took the lockrite from the rear and fitted to the front, the old front was welded up and stuffed in the rear.
A bit of a bonus was finding the diffs were 4.8's
Also have received the Dual Adapter and 23 spline 4.7 Gears from the US so started the rebuild today.
One Dual Adapter ready to go...
Got the 4.7's installed and joined the transfercases together.. Yeah I know.. should have cleaned it all

Also end up with a few spare parts !
So the result will be:
3.93( 1st gear) X 2.28(first transfer) X 4.7(second transfer) X 4.8(diff) = 202:1
considering a std hilux is 43:1
looking forward to the first test drive

Part 2 is widening the front and rear axles, chopping of lotsa body and adding 42" TSL's
Excuse the real basic drawings but you'll get the idea
The stock toy axles are too narrow for the 42's so we'll widen them and get a new shortside long axle made.
The end result is some thing like this....
