surf/4runner 4wd not selecting

hi there new to this site and there seems to be some very nolagable ppl on here so thought i would pick someones brain.
my problum is i bought a manual 2.8 4runner i cant get the 4wd to select u can hear a clicking and the 4wd light comes on and stright away clicks off. it will still select low but omly 2wd cand someone help?????????

1st thing does it have manual hubs.........2nd check the vacuum hose from diff up to alt should be a couple of regs inbetween the lines make sure they are connected thats all i can think of...........good luck

i just had a look and all vacume hoses are conected apart from one ontop of the ac pump vac hose goses in the bottom but unshore if it a cap or pipe off the top. how do i check the solinids and the diafram????
and its auto hubs

The solenoids should have a resistance of between 37 & 44 Ohms & there are 2 solenoids....no idea how to check diaphram..my ex was always on the pill :lol:
