Can anyone identify this Surf or Hilux Gearbox

Post by hosehustler »

I got this gearbox when I purchased lots of other parts.
I have only dabbled with G52's and W56's so know all about them 8)
But this isn't either could be from a surf or maybe a later hilux :?:
Anyone know what it is for definates, and yes its for sale if anyone needs what the hell it is

5 bolts means it's a chain driven case which all V6's had, manual and auto. As did the 4 cylinders with an auto transmission and the G58 5 speed trans (early 90's trucks/4Runners that came with the ADD front end)

just found this on IH8MUD.could be the answer

i will compare it to my stuffed r151 in the garage tomorrow. it looks like a r series. Really hard to confirm between a r150 and r151. I know the kzn130 manuals had a neutral switch on the drivers side of the box up by the bellhousing and they ran a r151. only other way is to pull them apart and count the teeth.

Tim I had a look at a box I have on the floor in the shed, Same as yours and it's bolted to a 3ye from a YN130 2 door Surf.
Looks to be the same box in the 4 door YN130 i also have.
So according to the ID tag its a G52 box
I have a diesel bellhousing that will fit this also, if required by anyone
This the the tag out of the 4 door YN

Excuse the crap picture but this is mine.
