I know there are a million threads on this but I just want to make sure what I've done is correct.
Following the spread sheet below I have blocked off the hose that had the little UFO thingy on it.

That way will stop the actuator operating however if the valve doesn't seal properly you will still be pumping gasses into the intake.
Most people just slip in a solid plate where the gasket is... either end of the pipe will do...

Cheers mate. So I should follow it to where ever it goes (as the end near my photo would be a c*** of a place to remove) and put a blank in there.

I think you will find it is the easier end. As the other is at the back of the manifold and there ain't much room. Plus the nuts n studs could be seized due the heat from the manifold.

That article refers to a engine with a throttle plate in it thats used to restrict the intake flow. Not sure how the 1kz works with its throttle restrictor.
Its common to do this mod with diesels but I would definatly leave the EGR system working on a petrol engine.

The diesel 1kzte has those butterfly's.. Mainly for EGR control and also quieten them up...
I have removed both of them... made it run a little better but shut down was a little lumpy.
If you disconnect the EGR system the small butterfly can effect airflow at idle and it will run like a bag of bolts...

the article refers to petrol engines.
diesels are a bit different.
but you should remove/disable the intake egr butterfly as with no egr your reduce gas volume into the cylinder and get less effective compression. had a number of surfs on the surf forum suffering from white smoke out the exhaust due to this.
1kz i'm not sure on as its a dual butterfly. tho you be able to work out how to disable the small butterfly from partly shutting for egr while still having it shut completely for smooth engine off.

cool, with only using the egr blanking plate on my 1kz, it all seems to work well, smooth shut off, faster response,how ever I am getting abit of the white smoke occasionally so I may block off the egr vac line tomorrow, see if that stops that.!

Id take that article with a grain of salt.
There may be some truth to it but it doesnt allow for how inefficient the engine becomes with an intake clogged with crap after a few years from the EGR - that doesnt help your fuel economy at all.

Just thought I would update. Car runs quieter, gets on boost quicker, you can hear the turbo clearer but definitely runs a touch hotter.

What about the later 1kz-te's with electronic throttle that only have one butterfly? I have just blocked my vacume line so the egr cannot open, but I don't know how the system is affected when the single butterfly closes slightly to suck more "egr air" in. I can't remove it as it affects shutdown.
