building a 4x4 trailer

Hey all,

Ive got 99% of the parts required to build my trailer. Im using a LN167 xtra cab wellside. 15X8's and 35's. Now the wellside is a non flare model but wanting to fit flares. I like the look of these

has anyone got something slimular lying round.

Ive got heaps of fibreglass flares lying around work, god knows what there off but your welcome to come check them out. Down side is itll have to be next year

If you are using an extra cab wellside, load lots on the draw bar as there is a natural bias of weight to the rear making it tow like a pig and risk it tipping up when not connected to a vehicle.

Hi Jase, this works for me and was given by an old enginer I used to work with. For every ft of draw dar length move your axle 1/2" behind centre :- (wish I knew how to draw this) ,take a measurement from the front of the tray/deck,frontedge of trailer to the centre of the tow coupling -- say it is 6ft-- then your axle would be 3" to the rear of the centre line of the tray/deck of the trailer. Hope this makes sence, you will find this gives a good balance when unloaded and loaded. Wishing you all the best for the festive season and take time to ----

Our club trailer is made from same wellside. On the drawbar is an LPG bottle, 25 litres of water and inside the front of the tray is the bbq and a 4.2kVa genset, 10 litres of fuel and a N70 battery. All of this is just enough. The problem is, to centre the axle in the wheelarch means there is no room for adjustment of the axle position. We run 33's on ours too.
Trial and error is the key. I can post some pics in a couple of weeks if you want.
