Great rope, i use it to tow trucks that are bigger then me.
all i do is pull untill i stop and then tell the stuck truck to drop its cluch and then let the rope do the work.
only very broke it once one strand went and it held together with the other two. once broken i tiped it for safty reason.
i am trying to find some more to make another one.
Only use it for three tows in any one day as the rope takes time to recover

Hi Jono,
I've used my climbing ropes for towing cars, which works really well because of their bungie type quality, hence why i was enquiring about whether you could use them for 4x4 strops... i like your idea about platting them into 3 strands, doing it this way should give about 15000lb breaking strain.
Do you know what the physics are in pulling out a stuck truck?
A good source of ex-climbing ropes could be you're local indoor climbing wall, under OSH regulations they are usually replaced every 12 months and are 'destroyed' by cutting into short lengths so that they can't be used for climbing, ie: a 50mtr rope would be cut into 20mtr lengths (which probably would still be ok for towing), if you could get friendly with the wall manager and convince them they would not be used for climbing you may be in luck
