what box to use

Post by spanky »

what toyota box could i use that will handle a v8 plus give me a pto shaft for a winch, i want to start getting some bits together to build a new bush truck, i will keep my paj cause it is good for the kids with windows and heater etc, but want some thing much better that can run big tyres , pto winch and sound proper, being able to lower the gears also would be good as have just scored some 38.5 ground hawgs, would prefer manual but auto would do , will be off road only, any ideas would be good , cheers

You probably want to be looking at prado or cruiser boxes, an R series for manual or A343 for auto. You can increase the number of clutch packs in the a343 to make it stronger. You will need to get a cruiser/prado transfercase with the pto plate on it. It should be bolted on, on the passenger side. You will also need the PTO gear itself, which I hear are rare as hens teeth, so I would suggest you source that first.

Who knew Prados could fly?
