What Rim offset are you running Early Prado
Hi All
On the market for new / used rims. Need some for the 35x10.5x16 simex's I got last week.
Question is........
So what offsets are the LJ7x / KZJ7x guys running out there? Square Prado's
Particularly in 8 inch wide..
For my KZJ78
Factory rims are 15x7 offset -20 (82mm back spacing)
Nearest aftermarket in a 8 inch is -28 (87mm back spacing)
Which makes it stick in 5mm more.
Any issues running with 35x12.5's or 35x10.5's??
I only ask as my current set I am using for my 15 inch KL71's are a custom off set and I don't have the funds to do them again in the 16....(70 - 75 mm back spacing)

I'm running 8inch wide 15inch rims with -40 offset. Have found anything less than that the front calipers hit, if you got spacers you should be able to get away with less but won't be road legal then. HTH

Calvin if you can track down some 80series 16x8 steel rims they could be what your after, Took me quite a while but ended up getting some off trademe for $80, I think they came out on the non-turbo (maybe GX?) models. There a 0 offset rim.

I guess your going to have to get another set of rims if your going from 15" to 16" tyres, have you concidered getting the centres flipped on some 16" rims to get a good offset and push the wheels out a bit further to get better stability? The 8" rims I had done a few years back were only $30 plus gst per rim to flip, I think each rim went out about 60-70mm further with flipping and beadlocking

I now have two sets.
KL71's for road / easy runs
Simex's for hard yakka trips. These are the ones which need the 16 inch rims.
What ever I do I still need a set of rims to flip.....And don't want to waste good coin on new rims if I go this way....Plus I need to weld up the original valve holes and add another for the bigger tubes I use.
Will have to keep an eye out on TardMe....

Calvin, you may be better off with a 16 x 7 rim for a 35 x 10.5. You will get less crap in the bead at low pressures (even with tubes its still pain to clean out)

True, but have also been advised that the Simex tread wont form properly if using a 7 inch rim....And typically needs airing down more to accomodate

I've also got -40 offset 15x8 rims (16" same offset spare) and work really well with no rub anywhere on LJ78, but only running 33x12.5's. Will be interesting to see how this pans out as I'm thinking about upsizing next year also.

My custom 15x8 which have the 35x12.5 KL71's (75mm give or take Backspacing) work well.
But I have trimmed out my front guards rather than a body lift.
No rub up front....
Back just kisses when fully articulated.
Probably will go for -13 off set and run the spacers I have (certed of course)
This will give me my 70 to 75mm backspacing.

Have you trimmed the rear at all?
How much did you take out of the front?
Would running 3" suspension plus guard cut be ample for 35x11.5 silverstones?

Haven't trimmed rear. Yet.
Trimmed out at least 70mm from the front.
Plus removed half the inner guard and replaced with plastic.
As for 3 inch lift... Some guys have gotten away with just a small body lift and suspension lift. No trimming.
I personally haven't gone with a body lift....Just a 3 ish inch lift.
For me I put on the wheels with the 35s and trimmed where I thought they would hit. Took it out for a play then trimmed more in the other spots it hit. Bit of trial and error.
It also depends on what offset your rims are and how fat yah tyres are.
Mines setup for 35x12.5 Kumho KL71's and they balloon out a bit.
So BFG's or Simex's will fit easily.

I had the centres of my rims flipped and had a 4"lift. doing that meant I could run 35x12.5 simexs no problem...

Down in quake town so it'd probably be a little far for a quick look

Not overly keen on a body lift as want to keep the COG lowish, had a few tippy moments with 3" lift/skinny feet on before going to the bigger offset and tyres. Plus the front bar is a custom setup with no allowance for body lift. I'm looking at 35/11.5 silverstones with -40 offset rims for the harder stuff and keep the 33/12.5 Bighorns for river runs etc. Might just be a toss up between 4" lift springs and guard chop.
Would the centre flip be the equivalent of -40 offset or more?

it all depends on the individual rim and where they re-weld the centre back in, the 8" beadlocked set I had done came out with about -75 offset and 40mm backspace
