help!!!

Post by samewan »

OK well on a quick mission down to the river I hit a bump and was a loud bang, that was fine, there was no 4wding just gravelroad. Further down the road it started to develop a rather large vibration. driving home it steadily got worse and worse.on futher inspection the cross member is bent but everything else is fine will post pics and check engine mounts and gearbox mounts in the morning.

any idears what it could be?

cheers sam

steerin arms ok? wheel shimmy? can ya explain the vibration a tad more? wheel shimmy? only when drivin? when sittin still idling?

gotta be asked, how the hell you hit somethin big and hard enough to bend a cross member but not collect a diff etc, or see it prior!!?

just lay under there and locate the vibration.. you'll get there..

I just did a three point turn and collected something as I drove back onto the track it's like siting in a massaging chair it does it whilst the engine is on faster you go the worse it gets @ 100 it's so loud you can't even talk to your passenger

Re: help!!!

that oil leakin from your diff housing front pinion would be from lack of a goody one of these..
Image

so in order to do one of those, just follow this link.. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repair ... 52800611d5

that wont be the cause of ya shimmy unless ya really crunched ya front pinion, then ya should be able to get under there and wobble it around relatively easily...? tried that?

Hi Sam,
i'm with Fitzy's opinion on the exhaust, if it's doing it when the motor is at idle (vehicle not moving) it's most likely to be your exhaust hitting body/chassis somewhere.
I'm home on Wed if you want to drop in I can have a quick look, but Rick@ 4wdacc won't rip you off.....34 Watts rd
