Hey guys i have a ln106 hilux brought a draglink off a friend to put in. But now realised crossover steering isnt much more exspensive! Hah

Is it worth going to crossover steering? And do you need cert also.

Ln106 . +50mm spring's all round . 31s and one day 32 or 33 .
I like the idea of x over steering but if someone tells me it's not worth it then I'll leave it

Def worth it, not only will it unlock so much more potential from the front end its nicer steering.
Obviously it would need cert and theres also a flow on effect once u start changing bits.

Steering box needs replaced with ifs style side to side steering box, torque rod removed only needed for the old push pull steering to stop bump steer under braking etc.

A drop hanger needs to be fitted to clear steering and chassis.

At this point you might as well put rear leaves in the front (slightly longer flexier also relocates front axle forward 50 odd mm) which helps clear larger tyres without trying to eat the rears of the front gaurds.

Then theres longer shackles

Relocated and lowered bump stops

Longer shocks

Modified or longslip driveshaft.

So ive had a wee look into the conversion thinking ill buy 3 inch lifted springs for the rear and buy cross over steering and u bolt flip kits and put rears in the front. Do you have to weld a new mount on to mount the ifs box?

ruf good for bigger tyres but might (I haven't done it on ute) mean that there isn't much room for surf ifs box, its pitman arm swings out the back. an option to have more room for steering box/arms is use a 78 prado or 80 series box because pitman arm sticks out the front.

Cheers for your input! Yea was thinking but the crossover steering kit of 4x4 bits and the ifs box mount. Havent looked into the types of ifs boxes that will work my friend has a few wrecked surfs but do they not work? Im running 33s and the love my guards so looking forward to a improvement haahah

70 series tie rod and drag link $115 inc gst and ends.

I would imagine so but 70 series TR & DL are way cheaper from Toyota.

Sweet! So just ask toyota for the arms and buy the 4 bolt arms from 4x4 bits will have to get a price! Cheers

Awesome . Does anyone know the part numbers ? Or will they give is the right parts if we just ask for 70 series cruiser tie rod and drag rod ?

What other parts are needed
Ifs box . Earlier is better ? ??
Build or buy ifs box mount .
Do the 70 series ball joints mate to the high steer arms from 4wd bits ?

Pit man arm ? Need a flat one for 2 inch lift . Drop arm for bigger lift . Is the srock one flat enough for 2 inch lift ?

Steering column extender ? Or part of a surf column if available .

not all Toyota stuff uses the same size tapered shanks on the balljoints, check what bits your using before buying some 70 series stuff they use the larger size tapers

Lots of posts on here about this before and a few bits seem to be missing I. This post. My understanding is that the dropped crossmember is required to allow enough space between the spring and the chassis at full up travel for the tie rod and drag link. It also allows you to move things forward a bit more. Remember springs are longer and shackles will be longer (I went for 50mm) so being able to move the front mounts allows you to get shackle angle right.

New top shock mounts are required to get the most travel out of it and this also allows you to correct the shock angle.

Ifs surf steering box is the go with a flat after market arm to allow you to get it nice and close to the chassis hence more clearance from springs.

This should allow you to run 35s without a body lift.
